This full rebuild of an automatic nipple threading machine, quoted and sold to a company in Texas, is a perfect example of the extent of Rebuilders Unlimited, Inc.'s capabilities and parts inventory. Beginning with a Landis Model 2CLAN stripped machine carcass, we completed a full refurbishment and rebuild in a 10 week turnaround time. We completed the rebuild entirely using parts from our inventory - we stock every single component for these machines.
There is a wide scope of work that we are capable of on any machine, and this particular rebuild required the full extent of our services. This job entailed a combination of using many new components and rebuilding some of the many used sub assemblies that we stock for Landis Machines. We completely rebuilt every element: the headstock, die head yoke, carriage and vise, nipple loading mechanism, transfer mechanism, coolant pump and piping, main cam drive, bed, motor drive, electrical and pneumatic systems, die heads, and magazine. All hardware and perishable items throughout was replaced: screws, bolts, springs, grease fittings, bearings, shafts, gears, and beyond. Our expertise in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic disciplines allowed us to complete every aspect of work on this complex machine. We installed new wiring, conduit, junction boxes, terminal strips, emergency stops, and enclosures as part of the electrical system overhaul, and new piping, hoses, fittings, valves, gauges, R.F.L. units, and speed control mufflers for the pneumatic components.
Just a few of the assemblies that were installed in other systems throughout the machine include a yoke closing rod assembly, pilot assemblies for the nipple loading mechanism, and the main cam's drive shaft, bushing, gearing, cam followers, guide bars, and all new drive cams.
Once the rebuilding process was complete, we (dry) ran the machine without threading parts for 8 hours, and then completed a small run of 500 pieces to ensure that everything was working properly. After completing an industrial paint job, we shipped the like-new piece to our client in Texas, where it is currently being used to produce nipples for oil field related components. |
